Our client is a leading catering services provider operating across Kenya and the wider region. To support its continued growth and strategic transformation agenda, the organization is seeking to recruit a highly accomplished, commercially astute, and results-oriented professional to fill the following position based in Nairobi:

FINANCE DIRECTOR

Reporting to the Managing Director and functionally to Group Finance, the Finance Director will be serving as the senior finance leader and a core member of the Executive Leadership Team. The role will be responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity of the business, ensuring compliance with Group governance frameworks, and providing strategic financial leadership to drive sustainable and profitable growth. The successful candidate will be providing executive-level financial oversight across budgeting, reporting, governance, treasury, contract finance, risk management, and operational performance while ensuring robust internal controls, compliance with IFRS, and adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serving as a strategic advisor to the Managing Director and Executive Leadership Team on business performance, financial planning, growth strategy, and operational execution.
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting, and medium-term financial planning processes in alignment with Group reporting standards and timelines.
  • Providing accurate, timely, and insightful financial and management reporting to local leadership and Group Finance.
  • Driving profitability analysis across contracts, clients, and service lines to support margin improvement and value creation initiatives.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Group finance policies, Delegation of Authority (DOA), IFRS standards, and local statutory and tax regulations.
  • Maintaining strong internal controls, governance frameworks, and risk management processes across all operations and contracts.
  • Leading and coordinating internal and external audit processes while ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Managing cash flow, treasury operations, banking relationships, tax compliance, insurance arrangements, and financial risk exposures.
  • Supporting commercial activities including bid pricing, tenders, contract evaluations, mobilizations, variations, and contract exits.
  • Driving continuous improvement, automation, and standardization of finance processes and systems.
  • Building, mentoring, and leading a high-performing finance team while promoting accountability, ethical conduct, and continuous development.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent is mandatory.
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • 10–15 years’ progressive experience in senior finance leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract-based services, facilities management, hospitality, construction, catering, outsourcing, or related industries.
  • Proven experience operating within complex group governance and shared services environments.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, financial controls, treasury management, taxation, and corporate governance practices.
  • Experience in financial planning and analysis, commercial finance, and operational support.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working within multinational or regional group structures.
