Job Vacancy – Legal Officer
Our client, a holding company representing interests in hospitality and finance, is seeking to recruit a highly ambitious candidate to fill the following position at their Nairobi office.
LEGAL OFFICER
Reporting to the Group General Manager – Operations (who is also the Company Secretary), the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all legal matters are attended to in the right manner thus protecting the company’s image, ensuring client satisfaction as well as minimizing costs in legal processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the processing of payments to claimants and service providers
- Ensuring all legal claims are registered and properly documented.
- Assisting in legal research and preparing legal opinions
- Maintaining adequate and accurate reserves for legal claims and follow-up on matters.
- Analyzing problems encountered in the legal arena and recommending remedial action to mitigate risks that may arise.
- Compiling lists of claims and status with a view to establishing impact costs.
- Receiving court summons and liaising with the Group General Manager – Operations.
- Assisting in managing board secretarial functions for the group as required i.e., preparation of meeting minutes, coordinating, and scheduling Board meetings and annual general meetings.
- Ensuring compliance and renewals of all the licenses, contracts, agreements, and permits of the company.Key Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from a recognized University.
- Post Graduate diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Should possess good negotiation skills and should have knowledge of court processes.
- Highly developed analytical and reporting skills with excellent communication and presentation skills.
