The Monarch Insurance Company Limited is seeking to recruit a highly talented and dynamic professional to fill in the following position based at the Head Office, Nairobi:
HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions within the organization. The Head of Human Resources will contribute insights and recommendations to the Company’s strategic initiatives and align HR objectives with the Company’s goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing HR strategies with management to attract and retain top talent.
- Ensuring recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of employees is done by adopting best practices.
- Driving a motivated and talented workforce to align and achieve the company’s vision, goals, and objectives.
- Managing the performance framework, instilling continuous feedback processes, and handling performance management.
- Providing HR advice aligned with Kenyan Labour Laws and best practices, while developing, updating, and enforcing policies in line with company values.
- Overseeing payroll management and related expenses according to budget.
- Maximizing human capital returns by optimizing efficiencies and initiating management decisions.
- Maintaining discipline, ensuring adherence to policies, and managing legal matters, while providing guidance and oversight for progressive discipline as per the labor laws.
- Identifying and monitoring the organization’s culture so that it supports the attainment of the company’s goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
Key Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- A Master’s degree in a related field will be an added advantage.
- At least 8 years of experience in Human Resource Management, with a minimum of 5 years at a managerial level.
- Must be an active member of the Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM) and CHRP certification.
- Strong people management skills and a great understanding of Kenyan labor laws.
- Skills in coaching, conflict management, leadership development, and change management.
- Proven team management experience and expertise in structuring Carried Interest “Carry,” ESOPs, or other management incentives.
- Strong decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
