Job Vacancy – Accountant

Our client in the health industry that offers dentistry services is seeking to recruit a highly talented and dynamic professional to fill in the following position based in Nairobi.

 

ACCOUNTANT

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for all bookkeeping including billing and invoicing, reconciliations as well as tracking deposits and expenditures. He / She will ensure the accurate recording of the company’s financial transactions which will have to be identified, approved, sorted, and stored in a manner so they can be retrieved and presented in the company’s financial statements and other reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verifying payments to include cash, and insurance / corporate daily as well as office stationery.
  • Managing and monitoring all sales transactions and assets.
  • Following up on payments from insurance/corporates and preparing monthly reports on the same.
  • Reviewing all petty cash payments and transport expenditures as well as bank reconciliations.
  • Establishing and paying for all company expenditures
  • Managing and preparing payrolls for all employees, associate & locum dentists and nurses, as well as consultants.
  • Preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting reports.
  • Recording income in the smart financial system.
  • Assisting management in the decision-making process by preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Maintaining fixed assets accounts and insurance and provide management accounts and performance reports e.g., on production and analysis.
  • Setting up finance and accounting policies.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting /Economics /Finance or related area of study.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Must have experience in credit control and debt collection.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an accountant in a clinic/hospital operation.
  • Knowledge of the dental industry.
  • Understanding of accounting functions in AR, statutory payments, and AP.
  • Demonstrable competency in financial statements and analytical skills in accounting.
  • Experience in handling insurance/corporates in line with AR is an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of accounting data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Excellent interpersonal and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a team.
  • Good communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
