Our client, Acorn Management Services Limited, is a premier developer, operator, and asset manager of rental housing in Sub-Saharan Africa. The company has been an established developer and manager of real estate for two decades and today, they have become the largest institutional investor in rental housing in East Africa. They are seeking to recruit a highly talented and dynamic professional to fill the following position based in Nairobi.

HUMAN RESOURCE DIRECTOR

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Human Resource Director will assist in driving the people and culture strategy to support the business strategy. The incumbent will support the organizational culture transformation to a high-performance and customer-oriented culture, with strong systems, processes, and people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as a strategic business partner, identifying and executing people and culture interventions to align with the business strategy.
  • Ensuring 100% adherence to employer obligations and deployment of regulations pertaining to employment laws of Kenya.
  • Ensuring compliance with the statutory framework for HR practices pertaining to policies processes and documentation.
  • Facilitating change management and communication to employees to align on business strategy and functional expectations, as and when required.
  • Driving timely, value-based, scientific, and cost-optimized hiring and recruitment and facilitating various talent development initiatives to drive culture.
  • Driving initiatives that foster a culture of learning, empowerment, customer and business focus, innovation, and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Ensuring a competitive reward strategy is in place and aligned to the business imperatives, and also overseeing payroll administration.
  • Ensuring ongoing excellence in the performance management framework, emphasizing continuous performance reviews and addressing poor performance.
  • Developing and managing the HR plan and budget to ensure effective resource allocation and acting as a Secretary to the Executive Committee, facilitating effective communication and coordination.

 

Academic Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 6 years in senior management.
  • Must be a registered member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM)
  • Exceptional networking abilities, forming robust relationships across all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven team management skills
